Ski Lebanon

Lebanon is only 2 to 3 hours away from any country of the Gulf region. The country offers six ski resorts with groomed slopes, catering to skiers and snowboarders of all levels. Beyond the ski-able domains await you kilometers of cross-country skiing and snowshoeing trails waiting to be explored; Lebanon has something for everyone. The snow season in Lebanon is similar in length to that of the Alps stretching over a period of 4 months from late December till early April. Each of the 6 ski resorts has a different flavor; however, it is Faraya Mzaar with its world-class infrastructure and the Cedars with its charming ambiance that retain most of the attention.

Mzaar Kfardebian (ex Faraya) Ski Resort

Mzaar ski resort, previously named Faraya Mzaar, operates 42 slopes and more than 80 kilometers of ski tracks. The resort’s base level starts at 1850m and you can reach the 2465m top of Mzaar and enjoy a 360 breathtaking view over the rest of the peaks and the Mediterranean sea. Coastal towns and even Beirut the capital might be seen on a clear day. At Faraya Mzaar Kfardebian if you are an advanced skier, you will need at least two days to ski the best of the resort and start searching for new tracks. An option here, if looking for a more challenging day, is to hire a guide from the ski school to show you other exciting areas. Intermediates will have a lot of fun as well, and it is also an ideal resort for first-timers as many of the beginners slopes are wide and gentle.

Two attractions close to the resort are the stunning 30 meter natural bridge of Kfardebian formed by wind and water erosion, and the ruins of a Phoenician temple and a Roman tower. Faraya Mzaar is also know for its après-ski and nightlife buzz, especially on week-ends.

The Cedars Ski Resort

The Cedars is located in the North of the country and the first lift was installed in 1953. Located at 2000m, the Cedars ski resort has a slightly longer season than the others, sometimes beginning in November and often lasting until late April. The resort is surrounded by stunning nature and lifts are in a huge basin. An alternative to skiing is the common practice of cross-country skiing which is unmatched at the Cedars, mainly because of the many plateaus offered by the resort.

We recommend seeing this resort, mainly if interested by a variety of après-ski activities. So in addition to the famous Cedars forest, you can visit numerous sites like the old village of Bcharreh, Gebran Khalil Gebran’s museum, Lebanon's most famous poet, artist and novelist, and a number of Maronite churches and monasteries scattered throughout the mystic Kadisha valley.
